You’ve probably seen those viral videos of young people with disabilities opening acceptance letters to colleges, but did you know that, until the last 25 years, students with IDD were not welcomed as college students? Attend this session to find out how more and more U.S. institutes of higher education have created post-secondary education programs for students with IDD. We will cover the history of these programs, an overview of what their outcomes are, and suggestions for how Best Buddies can partner with existing programs or advocate for the creation of new ones.
